“I am forever grateful to the great Saint, epitome of selfless service, Sant Baba Thakur Singh Ji, who encouraged me to write this biography. As Likhari of the Jatha I knew all the names of the Jatha Singhs, the places Sant Ji visited, and also wrote Sant Ji’s diary. Sant Baba Thakur Singh Ji said to me that being the Likhari (writer) of Sant Giani Gurbachan Singh Ji, that I should definitely write this Jivani (biography). Finally, on 7th September 2002 in the UK, Baba Ji themselves along with four other Singhs in the form of Panj Piare, did ardaas in front of Guru Maharaj to write this Jivani. The Sri Mukhvaak that came at that time was:

‘Jeh Jeh Pekho Teh Hajoor Door Kathu Na Jaaee ||’ – Ang 677

Wherever I look, there I see him present, he is never far away.

I started writing on 16th September 2002, on the day of Assu Sangraand, which has been completed with the kirpa of Guru Ji and published by Damdami Taksal Jatha Bhindran (Mehta) via Baba Ji. For this reason, I am thankful to Baba Ji and the Singhs of Gurdwara Gurdarshan Parkash.”

– Giani Pritam Singh Ji Likhari Damdami Taksal talking about writing the original book in Panjabi

“I am forever grateful to Sri Maan Giani Pritam Singh Ji ‘Likhari’, who spent 12 years in the service of Sant Giani Gurbachan Singh Ji Khalsa and then done parchar across the globe. I am indebted to Giani Ji for blessing me with the Sampardai Vidhya of Gurbani. In November 2016 Giani Ji shared with me their desire that this book be translated into English from Panjabi so that the current generation can gain benefit from the Gursikhi Jeevan of Sant Giani Gurbachan Singh Ji. This task of translating was commenced with the permission of Giani Pritam Singh Ji in November 2016 and finally completed in March 2018.

This Book is split into two parts. Firstly, the biography of Sant Giani Gurbachan Singh Ji has been written chronologically, year by year. Each significant moment of Sant Ji’s life has been detailed along with the places they visited around India doing Gurmat Parchar. The second part goes through various inspirational qualities from Sant Ji’s life with a wealth of accounts of people who spent time with Sant Ji and saw their qualities first hand. I hope that by reading this people will be inspired to build the same love that Sant Ji had for their Guru, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.”
